pop

Short for Post Office Protocol. A protocol for retrieving mail from a remote server. The current version, number 3 (or POP3), is the standard way of retrieving your mail from the mail server. All normal email clients work with POP3.

postgresql

Another open source database, but this one has features that makes it suitable for more than simple website backends. Postgresql is available on some shared hosting plans but be prepared to do some searching to find them.

phpmyadmin

A web based interface written in phpfor managing MySQL databases and quite common in shared hosting accounts. Simplifies database management with a friendly interface and is a must-have if you are serious about your mysql databases.
